About Me
My name is Chris Straughn. First and foremost, I am a father of a wonderful son and daughter, and a husband of nearly a decade to an awesome woman.
Professionally, I am a telecommunications consultant, and have been a private pilot for more than 9 years. I have several hundred hours piloting many general aviation aircraft makes and models, and several sUAS (drone) models.
In whatever form it takes, I love to fly, and relish the chance to safely experience the beautiful view of our nation from above.
Beyond this, my wife and I took up SCUBA diving, and love to see the world beneath the waves.
After growing up in Napa, graduating from New Technology High School, earning my undergraduate degree in Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara, and transitioning to ground school flight training in Virginia while opening an east coast office of my family business, I find myself home again in the Napa Valley.

From The Air
Motion without blur. Action shots without shake. Perfect video, even on the move.
Our systems are fully integrated packages with intelligent control parameters. We can fly miles away (using multiple “visual observers”) and still have complete control over our video drones.
Straughn Drone Services has an immersive, live HD view of everything below our drones at all times. This adds a new dimension to your aerial videos and aerial photography, and even enables us to do livestreaming to share what we see instantly.
Our primary drone has an f/2.8 to f/11 lens with a 120-degree field of view, delivering 4K video at 24, 30, or 60 frames per second, which virtually eliminates unwanted lens distortion that is common in other drones..
With its 20 megapixel, 1” CMOS sensor, our lenses bring the brightest, truest colors to life. Integrated into a 3-axis stabilization system, we are able to cancel out any movements due to wind or other disturbances in all three dimensions.
You will enjoy shots that were never thought possible before, and see everything exactly like an eagle sees it… crystal clear.

360° interactive cameras are leading a quiet revolution away from standard photography and videography.
Straughn Drone Services employs an assortment of camera technology, including the Ricoh Tehta V 4K camera, to provide an immersive “open house” feel for potential buyers, at any time of their choosing.
Users are able to look left, right, up, and down while “walking” through your listing, as if they were actually there.
Our tours even allow users to wear virtual reality goggles, giving them the ability to control the view simply by moving their head about. While these goggles are not yet commonplace, they are rapidly growing in popularity.
